Honest Assessment

"Promising, but won't make the shortlist — three fixable gaps are costing you the interview."

HR's first read

Solid background, but I'd struggle to defend pushing this through to the hiring manager. Your bullets describe responsibilities, not wins — without numbers I can't tell if you moved a metric or just sat in the meetings. The two-column format is also a red flag: our ATS scrambled the last candidate who used one.

Hiring manager's take

Technical chops jump off the page — ML at scale is rare and valuable. But I run a product org, not a research lab. Show me a launch you owned end-to-end, the trade-offs you made, and what the metric did after you shipped. I also don't see any experimentation mindset, which is table stakes for how we work.

Growth Opportunities

Focus areas that will move the needle.

No quantified revenue or growth impact

High Impact

Stripe wants dollar outcomes. Phrases like 'led growth initiatives' and 'improved onboarding' read like a job description. Replace with: 'Drove $4.2M ARR by launching self-serve onboarding for mid-market, lifting activation 31% and reducing sales-cycle from 14 to 6 days.' Every bullet should pass the 'so what?' test.

Missing 'experimentation' keyword & evidence

High Impact

The JD mentions experimentation, A/B testing, and data-driven decisions 9 times combined. Your resume mentions zero. Recruiter keyword scans will quietly downrank you before a human reads it — and hiring managers will assume you don't have the muscle.

Leadership reads as managerial, not strategic

Worth Addressing

You manage a team of 6 — great. But the JD wants someone who sets vision and owns P&L-level outcomes. Add one bullet about a roadmap you redefined, a new operating cadence you introduced, or a go-to-market strategy you shaped.

No self-serve or product-led growth signal

Worth Addressing

Stripe is building self-serve products aggressively. Your resume focuses on sales-led enterprise. Even one line about a free trial, freemium tier, or self-serve flow would signal you speak their language.

Summary is generic and interchangeable

Worth Addressing

'Product manager with 6+ years driving cross-functional teams...' could be anyone. Swap for: 'Growth PM who shipped 3 monetization experiments generating $2.1M ARR. Specialize in activation, pricing, and self-serve flows for B2B SaaS.'

ATS Red Flags

  • Two-column layout breaks parsing in Workday and Greenhouse — section order gets jumbled and dates often detach from companies.
  • The header uses a text box for your name and contact info; many ATS parsers ignore text boxes entirely, leaving your application without a name on it.
  • Skills are rendered as icons with hidden alt text — the ATS sees blanks where it expects keywords like 'SQL' and 'Figma'.
  • Date format is inconsistent ('Jan '22 – Present' vs. '2020-2022'); parsers sometimes drop one of the two and read your tenure as months instead of years.

Fix This First

Specific changes, ranked by impact.

1

Rewrite your top 5 bullets with metrics

For each one answer: what did the number do, over what time period, vs. what baseline? Aim for $, %, or time saved in every bullet on page 1.

2

Add an 'Experiments & Impact' section

Three bullets describing A/B tests you ran: hypothesis, treatment, lift, and the decision you made. This single section can lift your score 10+ points.

3

Flatten the layout to single-column

Two-column resumes break ATS parsing ~40% of the time. Move to single-column, 10.5–11pt body, with section headers in ALL CAPS so the parser detects them.

4

Move ML work to page 1

Your ML/technical depth is your differentiator — only ~15% of applicants have it. Surface one ML-driven product win in the top third of page 1, not buried on page 2.

5

Rewrite summary to match the JD's verbs

Pull 5–7 verbs from the Stripe JD (ship, experiment, monetize, activate, scale, automate, instrument) and weave them into a 3-line summary that reads like the JD's mirror.

6

Add 3 keywords recruiters scan for

Insert 'experimentation,' 'self-serve,' and 'activation' naturally into bullets — recruiter ATS filters at Stripe look for these explicitly.
